Note on RapidGEN Pro 5.0 database : An internal error in the Access database may occur and avoid any creation/edition in RapidGEN 5.0 pro by generating an error. So, to correct it, launch RapidGEN and before openning a file, launch the repair and compact functions in the Tools menu.

Here is how the next RapidGEN's generation products will be released:
The light edition (LE).
The Light Edition will be released in v6.0 like the Pro edition and will include all new features that the Pro edition v6.0 will have.
The main difference with the Pro edition is in the file format support:
The LE v6.0 edition will only support Gedcom files natively and therefore won't be based upon an MS access database.
As a consequence, the multi-file mode of the Pro Edition won't be available in the Light Edition, but an RapidGEN Pro import/export function will be added in order to keep compatibility between them.
The Pro Edition (Pro).
To begin with, the Pro Edition will natively include all the native gedcom routines developped for the Light Edition.
As a consequence, it will be possible to see, manage and analyse any gedcom file in your RapidGEN gedcom folder like any other RapidGEN file.
On other hand, here is a non exhaustive overview of the new features wich will be available in version 6.0 :
- All managed calendars will be available for standard date display and not only in tooltiptext.
- Managing godfathers/godmothers like any witness in version 5.0 + management of their relationships with INDIviduals and FAMilies.
- Support of all expressions of dates like in Gedcom standard.
- RGscript enhancement.
Licencing
Each edition will be released in VB5 to keep compatibility with Win95 and Win98, and will be released in .Net technologies for new compatibility with Win XP editions.
Licencing will be independant in each edition: having a Pro licence won't grant you access to a LE licence and vice versa. Each edition will be at the same price on each development platform, and owning a LE licence will grant you a 30% reduction for purchasing a Pro Licence.
Help environment.
When the RapidGEN v6.0 editions will come out, complete html help environments will only be available on this site for free and for everybody (not only for registered user like now).
